Default Two questions for discussion
Shalom!

Well, it might be three questions...

1) Do you think the Lord is trying to wake up the remnant?

2) Do you think the weather (and I do not believe in global warming) is God's wrath at this time? Might relate to question #1.

3) Have you heard of David C. Pack and the Restored Church of God? I was reading something by him called "What is the Kingdom of God?" but about half way through I was inspired to do a google search for him and found that that church was called a cult by some.

In that piece he wrote, he says that God isn't calling any new people to Himself, guess that is where I started looking for more info about Mr. Pack.

That's a good place to start.

From a cursory look online about David C. Pack, I'd say that he is a false teacher and that one should stay away from him and his church. Just the fact that he claims that the Reformed Church of God is the only church that God is working in bothers me. Also the idea that God is not calling anymore people to salvation is ridiculous. He desires that none should perish. Even during the Tribulation there will be those that come to saving faith.

As for the weather - remember the earth groans prior to the time of the Tribulation. Could it be a judgment of God on the world, yes it could. But I think that it more than likely is the earth groaning as we move closer and closer to the end.

Default Remnant?
I think 2 thirds of Israel will be wiped out before the remnant wakes up unfortunately. Or were you referring to the non-apostate remnant of the church?

Pack is just another dude suffering from JSS (Joseph Smith Syndrome). Every so often some lad gets a message that all the churches are screwed up and the Gospel has been perverted and lost so he was called to restore it contrary to the Lord's statement that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church. As we get closer to the end more and more shall suffer from this sickness.

Iowa has flooded before and California has burned and the next hurricane won’t be anything new. Except for the proximity of the fires in California to that recent state supreme court ruling, I wouldn’t say anything we are witnessing now in terms of weather and natural disaster mean anything in particular. I am more concerned with food and energy prices at the moment- and they are due mostly to speculators and a misallocation of resources rather than any natural or divinely instituted phenomena.

I wouldn’t look for any signs in the weather or natural disasters until the Gospel has been taken to the entire world (the 1st horseman of Revelation; the other horsemen as mechanisms of judgment wouldn’t make sense until the Gospel is universally known). With the internet, satellite TV and wireless technology we have the ability to take the Gospel to even the most remote locations on earth- even if we still lack the will to do so.

BTW: I see the 7 churches of Revelation as types of churches that have likely always existed rather than symbolic representations of periods in church history. I would venture that at some time (maybe in the near future) all legitimate churches will join together into a single organization that is represented by the Philadelphia Church in Revelation. I believe that it will be this single church that will be responsible for spreading the Gospel worldwide.
