Subject: Prayer Requests
Bro. Greg:
As we discussed I have 2 prayer requests I would like to share with you, to ask for you to share with other brethren as well. I am sorry if this is too wordy, but the first request is a bit complicated:
The first request is regarding our 19 year old daughter Angela. She has suffered with asthma related health problems her entire life, and in her early teen years developed scoliosis (curvature of the spine) as well which ultimately became serious enough to warrant spinal fusion surgery (insertion of metal rods attached to the vertebrae to straighten the spine). She had her first surgery when she was 15 years old, and as a result of continuing complications had her seventh surgery just this past October 23, when the previous rods (attached to the lower 1/3 of her spine) were removed and new rods inserted from the top of her spine to the base, excluding only the 1st lumbar vertebrae at the base of her spine. Prior to the surgery her spine had developed a 96 deg. forward curve from the top of the rods upward; so before they could straighten her up they had to remove one of her vertebrae to avoid stretching the spinal cord. It was a very dangerous surgery with 2 stainless steel screws going into each vertebrae on each side. Praise God the surgery itself went very well, the shape of her spine is now almost normal (!), and she is able for the 1st time in 2 years to lie down on her back, but it was an extremely drastic surgery and it really took a lot out of her. She lost 20 pounds in the process (down to only 86 pounds) which she does not seem to be able to gain back, her asthma has gone into hyperdrive, and a new problem has developed in the last couple weeks which is extreme pain in her left leg which we are hoping is not a result of any nerve damage or a misplaced screw. Specifically we are asking for prayers that her appetite will return so she can gain weight back, that her asthma will subside (or be healed altogether!) and that the pain in her leg will be healed and subside on its own.
The second prayer request we have is for work. As an architect I have specialized for the last 15 years in residential architecture, focusing on a special niche doing production housing for home builders in the Tampa area. Now that the nation-wide housing industry is in the tank for the foreseeable future, so is our business. Along the way I have done some light commercial and church work as well, and am now teaming up with another beloved Christian architect by the name of Carl Doozan who has extensive experience doing primarily church and commercial work. We are asking not only for prayer for the Lord to send work our way, but also for work itself if anyone out there is considering doing any construction at all, be it residential or commercial.
Thanks much for your continued friendship and especially for your prayers for Angela.
In Jesus,
Sam Adams
